David Lynch on the iPhone

Here is David Lynch's commentary on Steve Job's announcement that iTunes will begin to let you purchase and upload films to watch on your iPhone:

I've been in love with David Lynch since the first time my mother made me involuntarily watch "Dune" in 1984. Maybe that sounds fucked up that she'd do that, but she also let us watch "Dark Towers","The Twilight Zone","Cheech and Chong: Up In Smoke", and "Dallas". She also took me to the theater to see Gremlins at 4 years old- and I'm glad - because it's those experiences that made me want to get into film in the first place.
I agree with Lynch, because film - well, good film - is something you have to experience on a big screen - something larger than yourself -in order to take you out of reality and into this "fictional" world the filmmaker has created. So turn off your phone which is also email and text messages and a tiny camera and vibrator and lint roller, and take a friggin' break from reality - oh, and take a break from your phone. I guess if you want to watch "Balls of Fury" or some bullshit like that, then by all means, have at it - just don't think your watching a film, because your not, your staring at your phone.

Bullshit. Total. Fucking. Bullshit.
